Dear Family and Friends—

What a crazy year!  In a moment of insanity, for which I will always be grateful, Jeff decided that he wanted to hang with me long-term.  I wisely squeaked out a “yes” and kept my mouth shut.  He’s got years to figure out what he’s gotten himself into!

By now, you all should have received our “cute” save-the-dates (note:  I have a preference for “posh”).  If you didn’t, it was likely because we had an erroneous address, which has obviously been fixed, or because one of us (who will remain nameless) didn’t finish getting all of the addresses for his/her invites.  We’re trying to be a bit more on the ball now.  Anyway, we truly hope that you can all make it.  We had the horrible luck of having one of the most important dates in  our lives (for many reasons) fall on a Sunday this year, but because the date meant so much to us, we hope you’ll forgive us and pretend it’s a Saturday.

So, Sunday, October 3rd is the big day.  We’re getting married at a little winery in the East Bay (i.e., across the Bay Bridge rather than Golden Gate Bridge), called Wente Vineyards.  If you want to check it out, here’s the web address: www.wentevineyards.com.  Because we’ll be getting married in the fall, you will get the treat of enjoying not only my favorite season, but the best season the Bay area has to offer.  It’s the warmest season, the season with the least amount of fog and it happens to be harvest time.  By the way, when I say warm, I’m talking 80’s; SF never gets hot.

We’ve gathered a list of hotels for you all to stay at that are within reasonable distance to Wente.  The great thing about not being in the city is that the hotel prices are actually reasonable!  The bad thing is the cab situation.  So, we’ve also arranged to get a rate on car rentals at Hertz.  All of that logistical information is at the end of this letter.

What to do while you’re here…  Well, we don’t know when you’re coming, but the Bay area has a lot of great things to offer.  In fact, one of the reasons this is so late in getting to you is that we thought we could pick a few to put in here.  Unfortunately, one of us is lazy and one of us is overworked (I confess to being the former).  So, the overworked one took a little jaunt down to Fisherman’s Wharf and in a cunning act of thievery, managed to snag the enclosed Bay City Area Guide (and a hundred more just like it) from about three newspaper dispensers.  He’s a crafty one!  So, rather than my witticisms (which you’ll note are in short supply), you can hear from the experts.  Note:  if you’re a local, this packet you’re reading is all you get.  Sorry, you’ll have to steal your own!

Other than the idea that people may want to plan a few things on their own (I highly recommend Alcatraz and Angel Island), we thought it would be great fun to organize a wine country tour for all of our guests on Saturday.  We’ll arrange for a shuttle of some type to pick everyone up at one of the four hotels (probably the Hilton in Pleasanton) and then shuttle everyone to Napa or Sonoma for some wine tasting and then shuttle everyone back.  Depending on how many people are interested, this will probably be about $40-50 per person, which includes transportation to, from and around wine country and a stack of PB&J sandwiches.  ;-)  If you’re interested, please let us know as soon as possible.  Obviously the more people that participate, the less the per person charge, so everyone come!!!

I think that’s all I got for you for now, but if you have any questions, call us.  We have a home that comes equipped with a phone (415.551.7821) and I’ve got a man that comes likewise equipped (415.516.1545).  For some strange reason, I lost my phone and haven’t been in that big of a rush to replace it, so…don’t call me?  Just kidding.  You can always reach me at work by phone (415.693.2235) or email (cjensen@cooley.com)  if the mood hits you.

With that, I end this little note with a heartfelt thanks.  Thanks to each of you for that special something that you bring into our lives.  Thanks for the friendship and love that you’ve given to us.  When it came down to it, we couldn’t invite everyone, but we knew this wedding wouldn’t be complete without each and every one of you to share it with.  We can’t wait to see you, share a few laughs and memories and then hit the dance floor!!!

Love,

Jeff & Chrystal
